Ó Dochartaigh Reunion: July 23rd - 28th, 2020

Ó  Ó Dochartaighs and their kin from around the world will meet July 23 through 28, 2020 in Ireland. The Ó Dochartaigh reunion web site will be updated as event details are confirmed.

If you haven't decided yet whether you will be joining us in Ireland in 2020, please consider coming to the Worldwide O'Dochartaigh Reunion to be held from July 23rd to July 28th in the Inishowen Peninsula, Co. Donegal, Ireland and Derry City, Co. Derry, Northern Ireland.   Recently the dollar is stronger against the Euro, so for Americans it makes the trip much more affordable.

Once you have decided to go to the reunion next summer in Ireland, you need to decide how long you want to stay there and what your travel dates will be.  You will want to make your own accommodation arrangements and purchase your airline tickets and car rental.  There are many airlines and airports to choose from.  It seems that each of the folks that have attended the previous reunions have their favorites.

There are three main factors in making your decision.  Length of travel (the time from leaving your home airport and arriving in the Ireland), money (the cost of airfare and rental car) and distance on the ground (how far you have to travel to get to Inishowen and Derry once you have landed in Ireland).  You can decide to spend more time in Ireland or tack on other European travel.  It is completely up to you and the time and money that you have available.

PLEASE READ THE WEBSITE PAGES FOR INFORMATION.  If you have any questions read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ'S) page, if you can't find your answer there then e-mail us at odochartaighreunion@comcast.net

Since we are a volunteer committee and not a professional tour group, we only organize the events held during the reunion.  We do not arrange accommodations, and we do not arrange for any transportation for attendees getting to Ireland or between any accommodations and the locations of the events. We do suggest that you plan your accommodations to be near the events themselves. Irish roads are narrow and it takes longer to drive similar distances than perhaps you are used to.

The only transportation we do arrange is the bus(es) for the bus tour. The bus picks up attendees and returns them to a specific parking lot location.  For the previous reunions this location was the SuperValu parking lot in Carndonagh, but the departure location has not been set up yet.  We hope that it will be the same place, but that has not been confirmed yet by the owners of SuperValu.

We recommend that people hire their own transportation.  Some people hire cars at the airport where their flights arrive.  There have been others who come in a group and have hired a mini-bus with a driver for the time they are in Ireland.

We will be offering an all Events ticket, which will give the ticket holder entrance into all the events of the reunion and the cost of the meal and entertainment for the event. Just to be clear the ticket price doesn’t include beverages from the bar. Jugs of water will typically be provided.

We hope that this makes sense to you. We know that there can be lots of questions when you haven’t attended an event before.

Thank you
